Le Fol'Car est une course de vitesse se déroulant sur des circuits en terre stabilisée, ou sur des circuits mixtes terre/asphalte (circuits de rallycross).

C'est une discipline née de l'imagination de passionnés, dont l'objectif principal était de participer à des compétitions automobiles sur terre avec des moyens raisonnables ; nous étions à la fin des années 80.

Le Fol'Car connut ses balbutiements dans un des berceaux du sport automobile Nordiste : le circuit de Folembray dans l'Aisne ; de ce circuit sera gardé la première syllabe pour former le nom de la discipline.

Puis, en 1990 le Fol'Car devint régit par la Fédération Française du Sport Automobile, sous une réglementation sportive et technique stricte. Et enfin en 2003, la discipline a vu une évolution importante, avec la création d'un véritable championnat national : la Coupe De France de Fol'Car.

Le Fol'car est considéré, comme la discipline du sport mécanique la moins cher à pratiquer.
